You know, I do so hope the Doctor gives Sparkler a talking to about this...of course, he is her father in this comic, right?
Probably not, though. Or if she is, it'll never come up.
The only reason he was resisting being reformed by Fluttershy is because he had a figurative gun to his head with the elements. Once Fluttershy swore not to use her element, and Discord realized that he just lost the only being to be kind to him in over 1000 years for the sake of nothing, he decided to lean more towards being good.
And, since I should probably be polite and actually comment on the comic: Sparkler is best at being vague enough to be perceived as being kind, but really just isn't. Also, poor Linky, not knowing what it's like to have a friend that doesn't just use you for their own personal gain and/or amusement.
About Discord: I did think it was particularly horrifying that he was just imprisoned and not actually unconscious or something. Probably a fate worse than death in a show where "no one ever dies".
